Adult SAORI Weaving Workshop
Adult SAORI Weaving Workshop
Instructor: Kathleen Utts
Ages: Adult
Begin your SAORI weaving journey in this playful 3-hour mini workshop!
In this mini workshop, students will be introduced to the history behind SAORI and, Japanese founder, Misao Jo's unique approach to weaving, and how she became one of the most globally influential weavers of all time. Emphasizing Misao’s philosophy and the four SAORI slogans, participants will explore the forgiving, “no-mistakes” nature of SAORI weaving and experiment with SAORI techniques, texture, and color. Focus will be placed on the unique aspects of the user-friendly SAORI loom that will make each student's weaving experience so easy and enjoyable. Each registration includes the instruction and materials needed to create a one-of-a-kind weaving. All levels welcome.
Kathleen Utts is an accomplished local fiber artist, registered SAORI instructor, and owner of Wimberley Valley SAORI.
Please note that all courses require a minimum of 5 enrolled students to proceed.
Adult classes and workshops help support our mission, "to support art education and provide creative opportunities for area students." Adult ARTSPACE classes and workshops welcome community members into ARTSPACE to explore new creative passions. Like our youth classes and camps, adult programming maintains a low student-teacher ratio, allowing participants to dive deeper into subjects in a peaceful and enriching learning environment.
We hope you'll join us!
