Art Exploration for 1st-2nd Graders (Monday)

Ages: 1st-2nd Grades

Our Monday afternoon art class is an exploration of a new artist each week. We will learn their significant role in art, their time period, medium and see pictures of their art. Children will practice creating a piece of art in the style of the artist we are learning about while still using their individual creativity. This class will also explore the history of pigments and the creation of different paints that the children will then use to make artwork. The children will have the opportunity to learn how to stretch their own canvas, apply gesso and paint made in a traditional way. 

Vera Dyson is an early childhood educator with nearly 20 years teaching experience. Much of this experience has been as the Lead Guide in a Montessori school. She currently leads the Kindergarten classroom at Tiny Tree School in Wimberley. Vera has also enjoyed teaching yoga and art to both children and adults.

Please bring a water bottle and a healthy snack and wear art-friendly clothes (art t-shirts available as well).
