Ceramics & Printmaking for 3rd-5th Graders (Wednesday)
Instructor: Laura Greene
Ages: 3rd-5th Grades
3rd-5th graders will LOVE this series of 10 classes focused on ceramics and printmaking. Students will learn clay hand-building techniques with instructor Laura Greene as she expertly guides the class in the creation of a ceramic tea set (teapot, tea cups & saucers). When the tea sets are drying and getting bisque-fired, Laura will transition to printmaking lessons where students will learn lino-cut (linoleum block) block-printing, which then can be printed on a variety of surfaces, including on fabric as a pattern. Toward the end of the 10-week session, students will glaze their tea sets with food-safe glazes. If time permits, at the end of the course Laura will introduce Gelli printing as well.
Note: no experience is required for this class, however these higher-level projects are geared for students with a passion for art and the composure and focus required to maintain a safe classroom while using lino-cut tools.
Laura is a professional artist with over 20 years of teaching experience. She currently offers private lessons and is a regular projectART instructor.
