Rising 5th–7th Grade

July 13–17, 2026

9:00am-3:30pm

6 students

Teresa Davis & Sam Elkins

Class Description:

This class explores how visual pattern designs can move from paper to fiber! Teresa will start each day with intentional design making. Students will use drawing, print based techniques, surface design and textures to learn how patterns can hold meaning with planning, positive/negative space, repetition and thoughtfulness. Sam will take over the afternoon with a beginning weaving class using individual table looms, yarns, fibers, fabrics, and found objects to create unique works of textile art. Students will learn the methods and history of weaving as craft and use our imaginations to explore how fibers can become art.Throughout the day, students will break for outdoor and social time. Students will see how their visual designs from the morning can move from paper to fiber!

All projects are specifically designed to accommodate students of all skill levels and can be adjusted accordingly to meet each student's specific needs. No prior art experience is needed.

Teacher Bios:

Teresa is a professional artist, art educator, and mother of three who brings both expertise and heart into every classroom she leads. Teresa is passionate about creating a warm, disciplined, and encouraging environment where students build technical skill, creative confidence, and a genuine joy for making art.

Sam is a contemporary fiber artist and weaver.
